County, MnDOT reach deal on Highway 2 detour (Crookston Daily Times)

At their regular meeting Tuesday, the Polk County Commissioners approved an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation regarding the detour made necessary due to a landslide along the banks of the Red Lake River near U.S. Highway 2 East. The detour routes traffic from Highway 2 to County Roads 46 and 11 (Fisher Avenue), which is also the Gentilly truck bypass route.

U.S. Highway 2 landslide gets worse; MnDOT tells motorists to stop driving around barricades (Crookston Daily Times)

The Minnesota Department of Transportation cautions motorists against driving around barricades on the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 just east of Crookston. The barricades and detour are necessary as the westbound lanes of Highway 2 are currently impassable due to a landslide of the Red Lake River embankment.

Landslide forces closure of portion of Highway 2 just east of town (Crookston Daily Times)

A section of the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 just east of Highway 9 about a mile east of Crookston was closed on Monday by the Minnesota Department of Transportation due to a landslide along the banks of the Red Lake River. For safety reasons, it was determined that traffic should be detoured until repairs are made.

Slip sliding away: How low will Highway 2 go? (Crookston Daily Times)

How low will it go? That's one of many questions that so far outnumber answers about a mile east of Crookston, where the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 continue to sink lower and lower toward the Red Lake River nearby.
